xThe GEL-NYC pulls from early 2000s ASICS running models, especially the GEL-NIMBUS 3, and then mixes in details from the GEL-MC PLUS V. It's archive heavy, but it doesn't feel stuck in the past - it feels intentional.
Up top, you've got breathable mesh with suede overlays that gives it that proper Y2K runner vibe. Underfoot is where it flips the script: the sole unit comes from the GEL-CUMULUS 16, bringing in modern cushioning with lightweight foam and visible GEL inserts in the heel and forefoot.
This is one of those pairs you throw on without thinking and then realise it quietly carries the whole outfit.
